GROW Workshop: Managing Ambiguity and Emotional Responses
Intercultural experiences often involve uncertainty, ambiguity, and emotional reactions. This session focuses on recognizing and managing thoughts and emotions that arise in unfamiliar or challenging cultural situations.
Participants will explore common responses to change and difference and practice strategies for staying grounded, reflective, and curious when things feel uncomfortable or unclear. This session supports emotional self-awareness as a key component of intercultural growth.The training will be held in person on Tuesday, March 24, from 1:00 - 1:50 p.m. CST in the Campus Instructional Facility (CIF) (1405 W Springfield Ave, Urbana, IL 61801); Room 2018.Registration is required, so secure your spot now!
Open to all students. About GROW: Global and Intercultural Readiness Workshops GROW Workshops help students build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to engage successfully across cultures. Through interactive activities, group dialogue, real-world case studies, and guided reflection, students explore how cultural differences influence communication, collaboration, and everyday university life.GROW Workshops are open to all students—international and domestic—who want to strengthen their intercultural competence and global readiness.
